Audi Motor EV Powertrain
Audi Motor EV Powertrain: Audi is systematically moving forward with its e-offensive: The Audi e-Tron and Audi e-Tron Sportback are flattering, more agile, sharper, and more lively than S models.
Types of electric motors
- The three electric motors on the rear axle provide 370 kW of supercharging power and 973 Nm (717.6 lb-ft) of torque.
- It allows the two purely electric drive models to accelerate to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.5 seconds.
- Intelligent Driving Control raises vehicle safety, particularly dynamic handling, to a new level. In addition to electric all-wheel drive, electric torque vectoring with active and fully variable torque distribution at the rear axle.
- The driving experience of the two Audi e-Tron S prototype models cannot fail to impress once again with their increased level of dynamism, agility, and traction.
- In gear S, both cars go from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.5 seconds, almost without problems, and with almost no noise.
- The propulsion does not end until 210 km/h (130.5 mph). Electronically limited.
- Thanks to a powerful cooling system, the unit delivers a maximum power of 370 kW and 973 Nm (717.6 lb-ft) of torque for eight seconds each.
- Ratings in gear D without boost are 320 kW and 808 Nm (596.0 lb-ft).
Driving conditions for electric models
- In terms of handling, the electric S models cannot fail to impress with their outstanding agility and traction.
- They can accelerate through corners with the same dynamism as a sports car, and their driving character is much more rear-wheel focused.
Stabilization Control
- The ESC stabilization control should be set to “Sport”. The Audi drive should select a dynamic handling system to maximum performance with “Dynamic” mode. Then the driving design facilitates a high level of transverse dynamics and, on request, also controlled skids.
- Driving behavior is always predictable and is characterized by an extremely high level of safety and reliability.
The drive design: three electric motors in future series production
- The new Audi e-Tron S models will be the world’s first electric cars with three motors in series production.
- Its drive design is based on the concept of two different asynchronous motors (ASM). The e-Tron product line was modularly designed in line with this.
- The larger electric motor, drives the rear axle in the Audi e-Tron 55 models. It has now been fitted to the front axle in a custom-designing package for 124 kW of power or 150 kW of boost.
- The smaller electric motor now works in a modified way at the rear. Along with a counterpart that is identical in design; together, they offer 196 kW of power or 264 kW in boost.
- Innovation from the Quattro pioneer: a twin-cylinder engine with electric torque vectoring
- The unit has been programmed for efficiency in everyday life; in normal driving mode, only the rear electric motors work.
- The front-wheel drive does not engage but turns on itself, unnoticing by the driver, if more power is needed. It also turns on predicatively if the grip decreases.
- It does this when friction values are low and during fast cornering.
- The electric all-wheel drive is complemented by another technological innovation in the form of electric torque vectoring. Bringing the benefits of the conventional sports differential into the electric age.
